Vanessa Bryant has agreed to settle a lawsuit against the pilot and owners of the helicopter that crashed last year, killing her husband and their daughter and seven others. On January 26, 2,020, NBA superstar Kobe Bryant died alongside his 13 year old daughter, Gianna, and seven other passengers on their way to a youth basketball tournament in Los Angeles, Miss. Bryant and the families of the other victim’s father lawsuit against Island Express Helicopters The suit claims the pilot flew at a high rate of speed. The helicopter was not safe to fly in the weather condition.
Documents filed in court on Tuesday read plaintiffs and defendants jointly report that they have agreed to settle their claims in the above-entitled action. Additional terms of the settlement were not disclosed to the public, with the judge still needing to approve that agreement earlier this year. An investigation into the helicopter crash concluded it was most likely caused by the pilot becoming disorientated in the cloud. The National Transportation Safety Board that the pilot made a keyer and violated federal standards, which required him to be able to see where he was going.
It also said there was likely added self-pressure on the pilot to complete the trip due to his relationship with the NBA star.
