Live Update: Breeders’ Cup schedule 2021: Post times, TV channels, odds, entries & more to watch every race

The Breeders’ Cup World Championships, also known as the finale to the horse racing season, begins Friday, Nov. 4 with the Future Star races, while the main races occur on Saturday, ending with the main event, the Longines Breeders’ Cup Classic.

The two-day event consists of 14 races where jockeys and horses from around the world come to compete at. The 2021 event has teams from 16 countries and six continents in attendance. This year’s competition is held in Del Mar, Calif., which is located north of San Diego.

When is the Breeders’ Cup Classic?

  • Date: Saturday, Nov. 5
  • Post time: 8:40 p.m. ET

Championship Saturday begins on Saturday, Nov. 5. There will be a total of 12 races on Saturday with the first race of the day starting at 1:15 p.m. ET. All the races lead up to the final race at 8:40 p.m. ET, known as the Longines Breeders’ Cup Classic.

How to watch the Breeders’ Cup

  • TV channels: NBC, NBCSN
  • Live stream: Peacock, fuboTV

Coverage on Saturday begins at 2:30 p.m. ET through 8:00 p.m. on NBC Sports Network and TVG Network, which is available through DirectTV. Then, starting at 8 p.m. ET, NBC will take over the coverage for the final race of the day. NBC’s streaming service, Peacock, will also show the final race.

NBC can also be streamed on fuboTV, which offers a 7-day free trial.

Breeders’ Cup purse

This year’s Breeders’ Cup has a $31 million purse for the races held on Friday and Saturday. The winner of the Longines Breeders’ Cup Classic on Saturday night will take home the biggest grand prize of $6 million.

Five races on Friday and nine races on Saturday give out prize money. All the 14 races offer at least $1 million in prize money.

Knicks Go opened as the early favorite for the Longine Classic with 5-2 odds. Hot Rod Charlie (Pennsylvania Derby winner), Essential Quality (Belmont Stakes winner) and Medina Spirit (Kentucky Derby winner) have odds close behind Knicks Go.
